Blackjack, otherwise known as Twenty one and Pontoon, is pretty straightforward; after the initial bets are placed players are dealt two cards face up and must then choose to either ‘hit’ or ‘stand’, the dealer is also dealt two cards, one of which is face down. The aim of the game is simple: the winner is whoever gets closest to 21 without going bust (getting a hand which is higher than 21). The skill comes in deciding when to stand.

A ‘Blackjack’ is achieved when a player is dealt an ace with either a ten or a face card and is unbeatable unless the dealer is also dealt a Blackjack in which case the game is a tie.
The dealer will continue to deal until his cards total 17 or more at which point he must stand.
If you’re dealt a pair, that is two cards of the same value, you can ‘split’ your hand and thus double the wager. Each card will become the first card of a new hand.
You can choose to ‘double down’, in which case your wager is doubled and you are dealt one more card, you must then stand.
If you don’t fancy your chances you may ‘surrender’ which means that the hand is abandoned at the cost of half the wager.
Go bust and you automatically lose the hand, even if the dealer also goes bust.
